Mood Board

Ideas behind the mood board:
  • Mila Kunis was a female protagonist within 'That 70s Show', her costume and the sets iconography will inspire those in my music video.
  • Vinyls keep rising up and down in how prominent they are, being relatable and generic of any generation since 1900s. After decades of music being stored as mp3s and mp4s on computer hard drives, vinyl saw a resurgence in the late 2010s. January 2017 boasted the highest number of vinyl records sold since 1991. 2017 marked the tenth consecutive year of vinyl growth. These are epochal and iconic of indie and baroque pop and will be displayed on a wall behind the lip-syncing performer in my music video. This will create immediate nostalgia and reminiscence.
  • Roses on fire and ice melting are metaphorical of the individual traits within the presented relationship.
  • At the beginning, the music videos era will be introduced immediately through the iconography of a table, with feminine nostalgic props such as flowers, glasses, vinyls and a phone. The camera will zoom into the phone which will typewrite the performers name and the title of the music video.
  • I will experiment with lighting within the vinyl shots. I will use a silhouette of Brooklyn by placing a lamp behind a cut out, this will appear on the performer. This alludes to Goodwin relationship between the lyrics and visuals.
  • I will embed aspects of iconic celebrities ( Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn etc) into costumes and visuals.
  • I will include a screen splitting effect (iconic of Marilyn Monroe).
  • The locations will act as almost binary oppositions to each other, as the remains symbolise a boring, isolated, muted lifestyle and will cut to the Junk Yard fast, this location will symbolise love, happiness and reality.

Locations

1 - Gods Own Junk Yard

Conventional cinematic and retro quality of the performers taste will be infused with this location.

2 - Cranford Park

  • Intertextuality to Lana's 'Summertime Sadness'
  • The remains contradict with her supposed innocence to mock critical comments
  • The natural imagery of the trees and bushes along with shots of flowers in personas hair, act as props to suggest innocence and connoted purity.
  • For every shot in this location, i will edit in a recording filter, to give a feeling of a montage. It will connote entrapment, and the shots along with its connotations within this location will symbolise a montage of 'expectations' from hateful critics.

3 - A dark room

This is the opening frame showing the title of the song Brooklyn Baby' and the artists name. It will be a flip phone ideological and iconic of the 70's. The font will be the same as on a typewriter and it will be typed the same way.Image result for pink flip phone
